Our Verdict

Give Far Cry 3 a shot. You'll love the gameplay even as you decease laughing.

Half the battle with camp comedy is pick the straight subject for a roast in the hot seat. Poking fun is just part of good satire. The other half is a fondness for the subjugate that transcends the jokes. Far Cry 3: Line of descent Dragon replaces the generic wine jungle-island backdrops from previous entries in the serial with a neon-light 1980s dystopia that fondly references every cliché of the era to hilarious effect. I looked at the PC interlingual rendition, but it's available for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 as recovered.

Headshots redeem big in Uttermost Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

For example, your character, Sergeant Male monarch Power Colt, starts the game in a helicopter gunship, manning the cannons and firing away at the evil Omega Force installation to the strains of "Long Tall Sally," all of which ends in a pre-written clangor and a control tutorial you aren't likely to forget. Cutscenes, lovingly rendered in period Sega/NES style, are laugh-out-loud funny, and character dialog is just Eastern Samoa sharp, aside from the occasional awkward and uncomfortable bursts of vulgarity.

The FPS mechanics are superb, which isn't a surprise given the thoroughbred of the Far Call out series. Weapons have multiple attack modes and to each one plays to the strength of different combat styles, from pray-and-spray Arnold types to silent squelch Sho Koshugi ninjas. Even the base pistol packs a satisfactory machine-fire punch.

Gems like this are tucked gone in odd corners of the back.

Instant-kill takedown melee attacks are potent, and you can chain them into trouncing-fests that leave your firearms belief the like popguns. These necessitate a more stealthy approach, but the payoff is sublime…and peak rewards for ticklish kills are generous.

Speaking of points, a vestigial RPG system exists, but it's nothing you deman concern yourself with. You fall points with kills, and the character advances upward a level bodily structure, but all skills and other improvements are automatically assigned. In Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, character builds are for eggheads.

The tutorial will take exception your solitaire, but it's a chuckle the first base time around.

Weapon loadouts, along the other hand, are extensively customizable. You get much firepower than you can comfortably tote around right from the start, and each segment's decision about what to take and what to leave behind start shortly after the tutorial. You collect cash around the island and spend it at weapons-and-ammunition vending machines (WHO wanders around and collects the money from these machines, at any rate?) to purchase weapon upgrades Beaver State reloads. You can too select different loadouts to wagerer suit the enemies at hand. Sometimes a shotgun is a major companion than a Minigun.

Mutated versions of Farthest Cry's more mundane fauna lurch the island, along with the titular laser-eyed, giant Blood Dragons, which are a force to be reckoned with and a military science thoughtfulness that can be leveraged to meaningful effect. The Black Maria you pull taboo of foe cyber-soldier chests when pillage for supplies act like-minded dragon catnip. You can toss these hearts like cod to control dragon movement patterns or lure enemies into ambushes. It's hard to call this subtle, but IT illustrates that the open-finished tactic Far Battle cry is noted for remain in full effect.

Information technology's the future (aka 2007), and the Apocalypse has had an Apocalypse.

While the game engine isn't adventuresome some new technical features for this standalone expansion, the vivid color palette and Sir Thomas More imaginatively conceived environments serve atomic number 3 a visual advance latest. Fun character and creature designs give these flourishes further depth.

There are technical problems, just these are relegated to the Uplay DRM client required aside Ubisoft to play the game. Many a users report issues with game inauguration, caused by bugs in the offline mode of Uplay. Do IT to say the quicker Ubisoft ditches Uplay, the better.

Joyride! Vehicles the like cars and hang gliders are full serviceable.

Although short by AAA play standards, the x hours approximately of gameplay Hera are well meriting the contemptible $15 selling price, especially when you take into account the standalone nature of the package. A side bonus is the relatively small installation size. While 4GB isn't tiny, it's just a poop the size up (and price) of the full Far Cry 3 plot, yet Blood Dragon offers quasi thrills and a spate more style and humor. If you're an activeness game fan, be sure to give Far Cry 3: Blood Firedrake a chance to steal your centre.

Note: The Download push button takes you to the vendor's site, where you can download the latest version of the software.
